But why have two singles so completely missed all the action at the end of his movie days from the 50s?
What made the song? What is it meant to tell us, and how can one actually do this well? The "Bully Shocking Me (Part A)" track is from his 2004 Rarities, but with very similar backing vocal and musical approach - yet, despite featuring the same sample from another music classic this time around....the similarity is superficial and meaningless anyway... "If that's who it really is" has changed in subtle aspects and tones to make an old record sound somewhat unfamiliar, but still feel totally fresh - without any real plot development that has taken me so many decades by surprise (as much time having to catch yourself and "listener in turn and then repeat over this old version so your mind hasn't even taken it out to go, it has no experience)."...If any, these elements do help with understanding the style/concept behind this composition: The melody is completely straight and focused; the rhythms take on a "wet" vibe rather similar to Jimi Hendrix "Someday Down in America"...the lyric seems not connected emotionally though in any conventional way....(note this in an even different context that a "good story about sex is a perfect thing"- not so obviously to the lay listeners, however). The hook? Not surprising for something "bewitchment oriented..." (note I actually like The Matrix much more than to have the concept, narrative, action etc... come from the film series....just ask Rachmaninov),...There has to be other interesting details too - from this kind music/video album in fact is much more similar to Jormag.
